Measurement-Based Care for Mental Health Teams in France

Few countries direct as much of their health budget to mental health as France does. HiBoop helps psychologists, CMP teams and clinics see how each client is responding: validated scales completed between sessions, scored on submission, and kept on one timeline.

Why France

France tops the OECD's 2021 mental health benchmark on spending: about 15% of its health spending went to mental health in 2018, ahead of Norway at 13.5%, at a time when only five countries reported more than 10%.

Mon soutien psy has reimbursed sessions with participating psychologists since April 2022. Since 15 June 2024 it covers up to 12 sessions per calendar year for anyone aged 3 and over with mild to moderate psychological distress, and clients can book a participating psychologist directly, without a doctor's referral.

Public psychiatry is organized by sector: each address is linked to a centre médico-psychologique (CMP), where a multidisciplinary team offers consultations fully funded by social security. The national Feuille de route santé mentale et psychiatrie, launched in June 2018, now groups about fifty actions around prevention, care pathways and social inclusion.

What HiBoop Does for Care Teams in France

  • Scales sent and scored for you, results kept per client, and a clear account of where your data is hosted.

  • Made for a Short Course of Sessions

With Mon soutien psy capped at 12 sessions a year, it helps to know early whether scores are moving. Send the PHQ-9 or GAD-7 before the first appointment and before later ones, and see the trend while sessions remain.

  • Every Score on One Timeline

Results are calculated on submission and added to the client's chart, so a review at the end of a course, or a referral on to a CMP or a psychiatrist, starts from the full record.

  • Health Data Hosting and HDS

French law (Public Health Code, Article L.1111-8) expects anyone hosting personal health data for another organization to hold HDS (Hébergeur de Données de Santé) certification. HiBoop does not hold it. We will tell you plainly where data would sit, so you can decide what fits your service.

  • Independently Audited Security

HiBoop is SOC 2 Type II certified, with data encrypted at rest and in transit, and GDPR compliant. Under the GDPR, mental health information is special-category data, and your organization remains the controller of it, with HiBoop as its processor.

  • Euro Pricing

Care is €23 EUR/month for one clinician, month to month. Team starts at €180 EUR/month with unlimited clinicians. Network is custom. Published prices in euros.

  • Private Practice, CMP Teams and Clinics

One account can hold a solo psychologist, a multidisciplinary CMP team or a clinic with several services, each with its own clients, scales and reports.

Research data

Research from France

  • GAD-7 (French)

At a specialist epilepsy unit in Marseille, the French GAD-7 identified generalized anxiety disorder in 145 adults with epilepsy with an area under the curve of 0.899 against the MINI interview, and a best cut-off of 7.

  • International Trauma Questionnaire (French)

A French translation of the International Trauma Questionnaire, completed by 750 people in France exposed to potentially traumatic events, kept the original factor structure and showed good convergent validity and test-retest stability.

Peraud et al., European Journal of Psychotraumatology, 2022 PMID 38872594

  • PHQ-9

In a nationally representative sample of 1,247 adults in France who had had SARS-CoV-2 infection, 44.0% of those with long COVID scored 10 or more on the PHQ-9, against 11.1% of those without.

Tebeka et al., Journal of Psychosomatic Research, 2024 PMID 39454250

  • PHQ-9 (depression care)

In the multicentre DARE study in France, 78% of 245 eligible adults with depression had moderate to severe PHQ-9 scores, and 33.9% accepted the idea of using an online therapy program, with cost the main reason given for refusing.

Amiot et al., JMIR Formative Research, 2024 PMID 38568139

  • GAD-7 (adolescents)

Among 284 school students in the Lorraine region, the GAD-7 fit the data poorly; removing one item and merging two response options produced a six-item version with better psychometric properties in this general adolescent sample.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is HiBoop HDS-certified?

No. HiBoop runs on Google Cloud in the US or Canada, with other regions on request. Because the HDS rules apply to hosting health data for others, please talk to us about hosting before you store client data from France.

  • Can psychologists in Mon soutien psy use HiBoop?

HiBoop is separate from Mon soutien psy and does not bill the Assurance Maladie or submit anything on your behalf. It sends the scales you choose and scores them. How you use those scores within the scheme's sessions is your clinical decision under its rules.

  • Does HiBoop replace a CMP's patient record?

No. HiBoop sits alongside the record your service already keeps. It collects validated scales between appointments, scores them on submission and charts them per client, and you can export results as reports for the file.

  • Have these scales been studied in France?

Several have. A Marseille study validated the French GAD-7 in adults with epilepsy, a 750-person community study validated a French version of the International Trauma Questionnaire, and a Lorraine study tested the GAD-7 with adolescents. Check with us which language versions each scale is offered in.
