HiBoop’s recommendation algorithm is a core feature that personalizes the assessment process while saving time for clients and clinicians.

How it works

  1. Start with a prescreen Clients complete a brief, structured intake that covers a wide range of mental health symptoms.
  2. Smart matching Based on the answers, HiBoop’s algorithm identifies patterns and recommends the most relevant validated assessments.
  3. Clinician oversight Clinicians can review, approve, or adjust the suggested assessments as needed.

Example

If someone reports trouble sleeping and frequent worry, the algorithm may suggest:

  • GAD-7 (Generalized Anxiety)
  • PHQ-9 (Depression)
  • DASS-21 (Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale)

The goal is to capture the nuances of mental health while maintaining efficiency and accuracy.

Clinically informed

The algorithm is designed in collaboration with clinical advisors and is grounded in DSM-based logic and research-backed symptom mapping.

Unlike AI-generated recommendations, HiBoop's algorithm uses deterministic rules built from clinical expertise, not a black box. Clinicians review and approve recommendations before assessments are issued.

When a patient finishes a schedule, HiBoop checks their responses for related conditions that may be worth assessing.

  1. Open the completed schedule from the patient's profile.
  2. If HiBoop finds related conditions, a "Related Conditions Found" banner appears. Click "Review".
  3. Each condition shows which conditions it is correlated with. Hover over a name to see how strongly they are correlated.
  4. Switch between "This Session" and "All Sessions" to base the list on this schedule or on all of the patient's past responses.
  5. Select the conditions you want to assess for, then click "Continue".
  6. Choose where to add the assessments:
    • "New Session" adds a new scheduled assessment to the patient's plan.
    • "Existing Session" adds them to a schedule the patient already has. Pick the schedule, then choose "Only this session" or "This and following sessions".
  7. Click "Update Session" (or "Continue" for a new session) to finish.

You always decide which conditions to follow up on. Nothing is added to a patient's plan until you confirm.

Can I turn it off?

Yes. You can disable the recommendation algorithm in your clinic settings and manually select assessments for each patient. See Can I disable the recommendation algorithm?
