HiBoop will be at Family Medicine Forum 2026, November 11-14 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. FMF is the College of Family Physicians of Canada's annual conference and the largest family medicine gathering in the country.

We are attending, not exhibiting, with our partners Cherry Health and Canadian Addiction Treatment Centres.

Why family medicine

Because family physicians carry an enormous share of the mental health caseload in Canada, usually inside an appointment that was booked for something else and is already too short.

That constraint is the whole design problem. A screener that takes clinic time to hand out, collect and score does not survive contact with a real schedule, no matter how good the evidence behind it. What works is a scale the patient completes before they arrive, scored on arrival, with the trend already visible.

The brief scales are the ones that fit: the PHQ-9, the GAD-7, and the shorter screens around them. We keep a reference for the billing codes that attach to brief emotional and behavioural assessment, including CPT 96127, because whether the work is claimable is a fair question and not a rude one.

What we would talk about

Sending a scale before the visit instead of during it. Scores and trend lines ready before you open the door. What this looks like when it is running in a primary care practice rather than in a pilot.

Browse the assessment library if you want to see the scales first.
